Family-Friendly Space

The room is equipped with:

  • Two independent workspaces for multiple adults to use simultaneously
    • Each fits 1-2 adults comfortably on task chairs
    • Each has 2 power outlets and 2 powered USB ports
  • Child-friendly furniture & activities
    • One nature-themed reading haven with a thick foam cushion with green vinyl upholstery, a shatterproof tree canopy 
    • Two alone-zone reading cubbies made out of birch plywood, includes a thick foam cushion with blue vinyl upholstery
    • Four apple-green 10" high stackable chairs
    • One fun builder large building brick table, with large building bricks
    • One rolling activity table - perfect for crayons and coloring pages (ask for these at the circulation desk)
    • Other sensory-enhancing toys/materials throughout the space

Collaboration & Meeting Space

The room is currently equipped with:

  • A projection screen & digital projector with HDMI cables
  • A 55-inch television on wheels with HDMI cables
  • A slide-clicker for use with USB-related technology
  • Seating for 15-20 adults comfortably on task chairs
  • Easily accessible power outlets for plugging in technology

Study/Meeting Space Guidelines

Using Library Spaces

  • The safety of your belongings is not guaranteed. Keep valuable materials with you. Items left in rooms/pods will be placed in the lost and found.
  • Be respectful of others
    • Study rooms/pods damper the sound, they are not fully soundproof. Talk quietly, use headphones for music and video conferencing.
    • Leave the room as clean or cleaner than you found it. Pack out your trash.
    • Damage charges will be applied if necessary.
  • To comply with safety and ADA regulations, do not block or cover windows or doors; do not use small appliances, such as warming plates, heaters, coffee makers and similar items.
  • The library may ask any occupant to leave a room, pod, or other bookable space if complaints are received or a patron has stayed beyond their reserved time.
  • Failure to leave any bookable space when requested by library staff, regardless of reason, may result in loss of the privilege to use any bookable space, and/or a referral to the Student Conduct Officer, or other appropriate campus personnel..

Patron Privacy

  • Information about reservations is confidential. Library staff will not share this information with anyone but the person who made the reservation. Photo identification may be required.

UCC's Study Rooms and Reservations Guidelines have been based off of those used by The Oregon State University Libraries, and Portland Community College.

Reserving a Pod

  • The study pods at the UCC Library provide currently enrolled UCC students with meeting space for study and discussion with their fellow students. Exceptions may be approved by the Library Director.
  • Pods can be reserved for a maximum of 2 hours, based on availability. Patrons must check in at the Circulation Desk.
  • Advance reservations are limited to one per person per day, and may be made up to 7 days in advance.
  • Advance reservations are not required, but are strongly recommended.
  • Immediate-use reservations can be made at the Circulation Desk if pods are available.

Using the Spaces

  • Cleaning kits are provided upon checking out bookable spaces. 
  • Please use the table cleaner and rags provided to wipe down tables, and the window cleaner to wipe down windows and other glass surfaces.
  • Please dispose of all trash in the library trash cans; do not leave anything in the rooms.
  • In the event of any spills please notify the library staff ASAP.
  • Failure to comply with the aforementioned rules may lead to loss of booking privileges and/or referrals to appropriate campus parties (Student Conduct Officer, Department Chairs, Security, etc...)

Reserving a Study Cubicle

  • The study cubicles at the UCC Library provide a meeting space for study and discussion for UCC students, faculty/staff, and community members alike.
  • Current UCC students, faculty/ staff have priority in the use of these rooms.
  • Study cubicles do not require reservations, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Study cubicles do not have time limits on them.
  • There are cleaning kits available around the Tutoring Center, we ask that users use these to wipe tables/surfaces within the cubicles when they are done.

Using the Space

  • Please use the table cleaner and rags provided to wipe down tables, and the window cleaner to wipe down windows and other glass surfaces.
  • Please dispose of all trash in the library trash cans; do not leave anything in the rooms.

About the Family-Friendly Study Space (Moody Room)

  • Do not leave your children unattended. This is a family study space, not a drop off daycare room. 
  • Family study rooms are only available for use by UCC students when children are with them. There are other bookable spaces available for individuals and groups.
  • This space is divided into two independently bookable spaces, each containing a standalone workspace and adjacent children's reading nook. There is a shared central reading area and play table for small children. 
  • If you need to book the entire space please select the appropriate option "Moody Room (entire space)" from the booking menu.
  • You are are responsible for the space that you book, please use cleaning products provided to wipe down all surfaces.

Reserving the Family-Friendly Study Space (Moody Room)

  • The Moody Room and all associated bookable spaces are available for current UCC students who are accompanied by children only.
  • The space can be reserved for a maximum of 2 hours, based on availability. Patrons must check in at the Circulation Desk.
  • Advance reservations are limited to one per person per day, and may be made up to 7 days in advance.
  • Advance reservations are not required, but are strongly recommended.
  • Immediate-use reservations can be made at the Circulation Desk if the space is available.

  • Do not leave your children unattended. Parents are responsible for their children’s safety and behavior.
  • Family study rooms are only available for use by UCC students when children are with them. There are other bookable spaces available for individuals and groups.
  • Please do not leave any personal items in the room. Personal items left in the room will be submitted to Lost and Found.
  • Library resources are not censored. Parents are responsible for monitoring what their children access–both online and print materials.
  • Cleaning kits are provided upon checking out bookable spaces. 
  • Please use the table cleaner and rags provided to wipe down tables, and the window cleaner to wipe down windows and other glass surfaces.
  • In the event of any spills please notify the library staff ASAP.

Reserving the Innovation Room

  • The Innovation Room is available for booking by current UCC faculty, staff, and administrators. Exceptions may be approved by the Library Director.
  • Advance reservations are not required, but are strongly recommended.
  • Immediate-use reservations can be made at the Circulation Desk if the space is available.

Using the Space

  • The Innovation Room comes equipped with a projector, a projection screen, and an HDMI cord for plugging into a laptop or other such device. Please note that this is a projector only, and there is not a speaker system.
  • There a 55" television that is equipped with an HDMI cord for plugging into a laptop or other such device.
  • There is a USB-enabled slide clicker/laser pointer that can be plugged into any USB port. Please be sure to return the dongle and slide clicker before leaving the space.
  • Please wipe down the tables after use, especially if you are having an event with food and/or beverages.
  • Please dispose of all trash in the provided trash can; do not leave anything in the room.
