About Us

Located in the Sue Shaffer Learning Commons & Library is the student-facing technology help desk. The desk is staffed by a professional Information Technologist. They are available to assist students with a number of technological problems from educational software to single-sign on issues.

Students

The UCC Library Tech Help Desk can provide the following services for students: 

  • Evaluate problems with student-owned devices and make general recommendations 
  • Issues with laptops checked out through the Sue Shaffer Learning Commons & Library 
  • Required educational software 
  • Understanding single-sign on (SSO)
  • Assist with lab computers
  • Resetting Passwords

Faculty/Staff

The UCC Library Tech Help Desk is geared towards servicing UCC students. UCC faculty/staff members should reach out to the IT Service Department and/or their home departments for assistance unless it relates to the use of UCC Library resources.

Community Users

The UCC Library Tech Help Desk is geared towards servicing UCC students and does not provide assistance to public patrons unless it relates to the use of UCC Library resources.

Limitations and Restrictions 

Multifactor Authentication (MFA)

The UCC Library Tech Help Desk cannot update phone numbers for multifactor authentication (MFA). Students will need to submit a request through UCC Helpdesk Ticketing or fill out a Student Record Change Form, which is also available at the Sue Shaffer Learning Commons & Library, and submit the form to Registration and Records. 

Hardware/Software

The UCC Library Tech Help Desk cannot perform hardware repairs/upgrades or install operating systems/software other than required software for educational purposes on student-owned devices. If a device is having hardware issues, students should refer to the manufacturer or a repair facility. 

The UCC Library Tech Help Desk can offer guidance to students on how to install personal software on personal computers and/or other tech devices, but are unable to do so for them.

FAQs

To access your student account (STUDENTS) for the first time, you can complete the New Student Orientation online at https://umpqua.instructure.com/courses/3433441. If you would rather complete the New Student Orientation in-person, click here and fill out the New Student Orientation Registration form.

Note: Completing the online New Student Orientation is easier with a computer. If you don't own a computer, you can complete the in-person version or use a computer in the UCC Library.

Your password will expire every 120 days. To reset your password, follow these steps:

1. Go to https://reset.umpqua.edu to update your password.

2. Enter the following email address using your student ID: 800xxxxxx@umpqua.edu

  • A 6-digit code will be emailed to your personal email account (the code may get sent to junk)

3. Use the code to reset your password within 15 minutes.

4. Minimum password requirements

  • Must be at least 8 characters long
  • Must contain upper and lower case characters
  • Must contain at least one number

After you reset your password, you will utilize the new password to sign into Student Self Service along with your 800 number (student ID) as the username.

If you are having trouble accessing your student account, you may be logged into your browser with your personal email. This can be resolved by opening a private window or creating a profile for your UCC account.

  • Google Chrome
    • Private (Incognito) window
      • Click the three vertical dots in the upper right corner of the screen.
      • Select the New Incognito window option (it will be the third option listed).
    • Creating a UCC profile:
      • Click the user icon symbol in the upper right corner of the screen.
      • Once the user icon is clicked, select Add in the Other profiles section.
      • Choose Continue without an account.
      • Name the profile and click done.
  • Microsoft Edge
    • Private (InPrivate) window:
      • Click the three dots in the upper right corner of the screen.
      • Select the New InPrivate window option (it will be the third option listed).
    • Creating a UCC profile:
      • Click the user icon symbol in the upper left corner of the screen.
      • Once the user icon is clicked, select Set up new personal profile.
      • A second tab will open. Click Use another account.
      • Use your UCC credentials for the account.

The Sue Shaffer Learning Commons and Library is located at 1140 Umpqua College Rd., Roseburg, OR 97470. The primary entrance is located on the side of the building facing away from the parking lot.

Directions to the Sue Shaffer Learning Commons and Library:

  • Take exit 129 from I-5.
  • If coming from the south, turn right at the stop sign, and left onto Umpqua College Road.
  • If coming from the north, turn left at the stop sign.
  • Travel East on Umpqua College Road for approximately one mile.
  • The college will be on the left side of the street, the Sue Shaffer Learning Commons and Library is located just after the fountain in front of the Del Blanchard Administration Building.
