Umpqua Community College is committed to the health and safety of all members of our community. To safeguard our community, UCC’s CARES (Coordinate Assess Respond Evaluate Support) team has developed a reporting system to share appropriate information so students can receive or stay connected to the academic support and student wellness services they need. This referral system is one element of a safe and supportive campus community.

Don't Wait to Report

We might want to wait to report a behavior or incident until it becomes threatening, thinking that we can handle it ourselves or it isn’t a big deal.  We know that every student has a context, history, and future. All of those things are connected.

Behavior might start as disruptive but when repeated, it might move to troubling.

The UCC CARES team encourages you to report all behaviors that you are concerned by. Do not wait until students reach the point of harm before we connect them with resources.

You can’t prove that someone is drunk or depressed, but you can report behavior that you witnessed. The more details the better. What if that student is doing this elsewhere? There might be a pattern, and by sharing it with the CARES team, we can support the student and you.
