Look for articles which:

• were published within the last year.
• is of sufficient length to write a paper on.
• are published in a widely accepted, respected, and credible newspaper, magazine, or academic journal. 
• provide either an in-depth analysis of various positions or viewpoints on a political issue(s) in a reasonable and balanced way OR that clearly state opinions and takes an ideological stand.
• make an evident attempt at being objective and fair.
• is relevant to the issues being discussed in the textbook and in class.
