Courses with No Cost or Low Cost Textbooks

Courses with no cost or low cost textbooks are identified in the Student Self-Service. What do these designations mean? Find out here

How to know whether a course has a no cost or low cost textbook

Here is how to see whether a course has a No Cost Textbook or a 50 Dollars or Under Textbook designation: 

 

1. Go to the UCC website and click on the Student Self-Service and log in. 

 

2. In the Student tab, click Registration

3. On the Registration page, notice the information about the designations for courses with a No Cost Textbook and 50 Dollars or Under Textbook in the Textbook Costs section. Click Look Up Classes.

4. Select the term you want to look at and click SubmitNote: No cost/low cost textbook course designations may not yet be posted for future terms.

5. Select the subject of the course that you're looking for and click Course Search

 

6. Select the course you're looking for and click View Sections

7. On the page with the information about the sections offered of the course you're looking for, look in the Attribute Type column on the far right side of the page. This is where you would see the No Cost Textbook or 50 Dollars or Under Textbook designations.

How to find all courses with no cost or low cost textbooks for a specific term in the Student Self-Service

You can use the Advanced Search to find all courses that have either a No Cost Textbook or a 50 Dollars or Under Textbook designation. Here is how to do it:

 

1. Go to the UCC website and click on the Student Self-Service and log in. 

 

2. In the Student tab, click Registration

3. On the Registration page, notice the information about the designations for courses with a No Cost Textbook and 50 Dollars or Under Textbook in the Textbook Costs section. Click Look Up Classes.

4. Select the term you want to look at and click Submit. Note: No cost/low cost textbook course designations may not yet be posted for future terms.

5. Click Advanced Search

 

6. Now it gets tricky. Click in the Subject box. Once you have clicked on an item in that box and it is highlighted, press Ctrl+A on a PC or Command+A on a Mac (Select All). This will select all subjects. They wil all be highlighted.

You can now choose to view all of the courses that have the No Cost Textbook designation, all of the courses that have the 50 Dollars or Under Textbook designation, or all course that have either one of those. 

Select the designation that you wish to see. 

If you wish to see both, click on the 50 Dollars or Under Textbook designation. While it is highlighted, hold down Ctrl on a PC or Command on a Mac and while you are holding it down, scroll down and click on No Cost Textbook. Now you should have just those two designations highlighted and your search results will show you courses from all subjects that have either one of those designations. 

Then click Section Search at the bottom of the page. 

Select all of the subjects to search and the attribute type and then section search

 

7. You will now see the search results for all of the courses offered that term that have either the No Cost Textbook or 50 Dollars or Under Textbook designations in the Attribute Type column on the far right side of the page.
