Welcome to spring 2023!
If you haven't been into the Sue Shaffer Learning Commons & Library lately, you are in for a great big 🍬(treat)! Since the start of the academic year (September 2022) we have added nearly FOUR HUNDRED brand-new, culturally-relevant, time-sensitive, new books to the physical library collection! That's nearly SIXTEEN shelves of books! Everything from manga, to literature, to cookbooks, to picture books, to graphic novels!
Have you ever wondered where these new books come from? Well, wonder no more! The UCC Library works with faculty, staff, students, and community members to take recommendations via an online form (and in person). Got something you'd like to see in our library, click the button below!
In addition to getting new materials from your suggestions, the staff of professionally trained librarians, and professional library staff members pour through book reviews, newspapers, blogs, and other literary avenues to carefully select items that are high-quality and align with the goals of our college, our programs, and our library collection as a whole.
We also have materials donated to us on a case-by-case basis. Most recently we had a large selection of books related to wine, climatology, and the local region donated to us by the Abacela Winery in Winston, OR.
And, possibly the most fun new title that we've made available to you was written and published by UCC's own Research & Instruction Librarian (Liz Teoli) and her writing partner, Alejandra Méndez!
New Hours!
The UCC Learning Commons and Library has updated their hours for the spring term. We are happy to provide you with full-service Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am - 6:00 pm, and Fridays from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm!
