What's New at the UCC Library?

While the library is still undergoing renovations, we are still able to check out computers and graphic calculators for the term. If you are taking a geology course and need the lab kit, we got those for you as well. Need a textbook for your early childhood education class? We got you covered! Fill out the request form, and then stop by the Library Staff Entrance (parking lot-side between the Library and the Del Blanchard Administration building. The door has to stay locked, but you can text us (541-835-8146) or knock really loudly and we'll come help you with your reserve item pickup.

Please do not enter the main part of the building as the construction work is still going on, safety first!

Hello UCC Riverhawks!

We are here to pop in with an update on student course reserve items.

New Reservation System

You must use this reservation system and wait for a confirmation email that your item(s) are ready to be picked up. A reservation is not guaranteed until you receive a confirmation email from the Library Staff stating that the item is ready for pickup.

Pick-up Location

DO NOT ENTER THE LIBRARY BUILDING - IT IS A WORK ZONE

There will be a dedicated pick-up table located outside of the Library on the parking-lot side facing Tapʰòytʰaʼ Hall during the first week of the term (Monday 9/25 - Friday 9/29).

Limited Pick-up Hours

Pickup hours will be limited as the Library is not yet open. The remodel is still being completed - we aim to be fully opened around October 16, 2023.

What will be available

Student Loaner Laptops

As always, you are required to show a photo ID to borrow a laptop from the library. Don't have an ID? The best part of being a college student is that you get a FREE photo ID from the college. This takes less than two minutes! All you've got to do to Get your Student ID is head over to the Welcome Desk at the Student Center and chat with the friendly faces there. They will have you login to the system to validate your enrollment, take your photo, and print out a brand new ID card. As an added bonus, there is a barcode on the back of your ID card that doubles as your UCC Library Card! Also, your 800# is printed on there, AND your student ID card gets you discounts at local businesses...THE SAVINGS!!!

If you are in need of a Student Loaner Laptop there is a new form that you will have to fill out. When you fill out this digital form you will be REQUIRED to upload your photo ID to complete the request. Then, when your request is ready to be filled by Library Staff you will be notified and reminded to bring your photo ID. 

Early Childhood Education/Human Development & Family Studies (ECE/HDFS) Reserve Textbooks

You must be registered for these classes at UCC for fall 2023 to reserve and check out these items.

General Science - Geology Course Kits

You must be registered for these classes at UCC for fall 2023 to reserve and check out these items.

Graphing Calculators

You must be registered for math classes at UCC for fall 2023 to reserve and check out these items. 

Hourly/overnight course reserve items will not be available until the library building reopens for business (approximately October 16, 2023).

Sue Shaffer Library & Learning Commons Construction Update

The Learning Commons & Library is still undergoing construction and the building is still closed. Please follow this blog (library.umpqua.edu/blog) for the most up to date information.

Crews are hard at work getting the lighting, carpeting, and other pieces installed in the building. At this time we do not have an exact date as to when the building will reopen, but we will let you know as soon as we do. 

In the meantime, the library staff is hard at work setting up systems to ensure that our students will have access to laptops, calculators, and reserve textbooks for the fall term. You will find information about how and where to pick these up right here on this blog as soon as that information is available. 

If you still have library items to return, you can continue to drop them off at the Welcome Desk in the Student Center. Please be sure to put your 800# on them.
